Book Presentation
The presentation of the book The Architect’s Palette took place at the “Trdat” Exhibition Hall of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture. The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Museum-Institute’s Director, Zarouhi Hayrapetyan, who emphasized the significance of the publication as a unique and valuable work shedding new light on the life, professional activity, and especially the intellectual and written legacy of one of the most prominent representatives of Armenian architecture, Mikayel Mazmanyan. Ms. Hayrapetyan also noted that The Architect’s Palette will add new dimensions to future exhibitions dedicated to Mikayel Mazmanyan at the Museum-Institute. The next speaker was Lilit Ter-Minasyan, granddaughter of architect Mikayel Mazmanyan and compiler of the book. She presented the history of the book’s creation and expressed her gratitude to the Gulbenkian Foundation for supporting and sponsoring its publication. She also highlighted that the book cover features a portrait of Mikayel Mazmanyan painted by the renowned artist Martiros Saryan. Karen Balyan, author of the book’s foreword, spoke about the difficult fate of architects who became victims of Stalinist repressions. He also presented Mikayel Mazmanyan’s creative path and the distinctive features of his professional approach. The participants of the presentation expressed their admiration and appreciation for the work accomplished, shared their memories, and read excerpts from the book.
